A Rustic Bohemian Wedding at Garden Gables in Door County, Wisconsin
Ali Dibble (works in the events and marketing industry) and James Broomer (an engineering manager) started their relationship in Shanghai, China, where they both lived at the time. After getting engaged, they spent 18 months planning their Wisconsin wedding from abroad. “Shanghai is a bustling metropolis of 25 million people, so something we both agreed on was a desire to have our celebration away from city life, somewhere surrounded by trees and nature,” Ali says. Their venue, Garden Gables, perfectly suited their vision of a rustic outdoor wedding. A color scheme of sage green, golden yellow, ivory and bright coral highlighted the country-inspired décor pieces, which included a flower-covered ceremony arch, handmade signage and a distressed wood pergola. The couple loved the pergola so much that they included a custom drawing of it on their stationery suite. Ali wore a princess-cut dress “that was both timeless and trendy, with flower and leaf detailing.” The bridesmaids donned printed floral dresses that complemented the day’s flower arrangements. Two cakes—a traditional dessert and a tower of cheese—let guests eat both something sweet and something savory.
Our favorite #MakeTradition Moment: “We had a favorite bar in Shanghai that played only ’80s music, and we always had such a blast there. We wanted to share this experience with our guests and asked them to RSVP with their favorite ’80s songs,” Ali says.
