A Rustic, Bohemian Wedding at Balmorhea Events in Magnolia, Texas

Eric Herold (29 and a U.S. Navy officer) proposed to Brett Kelley (26 and a high school teacher) with a beautiful rose gold and alexandrite ring, “The stone changes color depending on the light that hits it," Brett says. "It is teal blue in natural light, purple with indoor lighting and green with fluorescent lighting. My husband jokes that he wishes it was a mood ring to help him out.” The couple has always shared a fun, laid-back relationship, and wanted to bring that atmosphere into their wedding. Eric’s navy military uniform was the inspiration for the color scheme,  complemented by Brett's own bohemian aesthetic. Brett met Eric under a birch arch covered in river grass and floral accents overlooking the Balmorhea lake. Hung throughout the ceremony and reception were dreamcatchers made from doilies passed down to Brett from her great-grandmother. The wedding party moved inside to Balmorhea's main building for the reception, the bohemian accents blended perfectly into the rustic venue. Evidence of Brett and Eric's personality blend could be found throughout the day, in the NATO phonetic alphabet table markers surrounded by repurposed milk glasses filled with flowers, the old guitar case draped in lace and left open for guests to leave a note in. "We remained very true to our personalities,  and the most important thing at the end of the day is you get to marry your best friend."  —Jen Leahy
