A Rustic, Bohemian Backyard Wedding at a Private Residence in Lancaster, Ohio
Elizabeth Fox (26 and a horticulturist) was an intern at Longwood Gardens when she met Mike Zawislak (29 and a groundskeeper) who also worked at the company. They fell in love over drinking beers, picking garlic and sharing each other’s company. Their bohemian, rustic backyard wedding took place at Elizabeth’s family home in Lancaster, Ohio. The sycamore tree graphics on the invitations represented their large tree on the family property, which is one of the first elements guests saw when they arrived for the wedding. The outdoor ceremony was held at a mowed spot in the middle of the fields, where friends and family sat on wood benches and watched the couple’s vows unfold. The rich fall color palette of deep red, plum and ivory accented with greens decorated the space with lush flower arrangements in stone vases. Due to Elizabeth’s profession as a horticulturist, flowers were an extremely important detail, so decorations were fairly dependent on the overflowing bohemian-styled arrangements. The reception was set up under a white tent that had dining tables marked with gold framed numbers and decorated with wildflower and wooden log centerpieces. The rustic barn provided additional reception space, where the couple shared their first dance under metal chandeliers draped in wildflowers and greenery.
