A Rustic Beachfront Wedding at a Private Home in Islamorada, Florida

"We were unorthodox high school sweethearts you could say," says Maria Murillo (25 and an export manager) of how she and Pablo Gomez (25 and an entrpreneur) met. "We really liked each other, but never pursued anything serious and after high school, we lost contact." But four years later, the pair bumped into each other at a party, setting in motion their eventual walk down the aisle. On his 25h birthday, Pablo proposed at their favorite restaurant. "I asked her to sing me happy birthday, while I recorded it on my phone, then proceeded to ask her if she was going to ask me what I wanted for my birthday," says Pablo. "After a series of failed guesses, I went ahead and asked her if she would spend the rest of her life with me." The couple planned an elegant, laid-back affair at a family beach estate in Islamorada, FL. The spot offered a private beach for the ceremony and a small grassy peninsula with panoramic views of the ocean for the reception. The couple kept the decor understated, yet traditional, with ivory blooms like baby's breath and hydrangeas filling the centerpieces that lined the tables. Burlap table runners and mason jar glasses added a rustic note to the reception, while strings of bistro lights added a warm air of ambiance as the sun began to set over the water.
