A Rustic Barn Wedding at The Columbia Ballroom in Columbia Station, Ohio

Erin Trimbath (34, a teacher at Carol Nursery School) and Tim Magaw (28, a reporter at Crain’s Cleveland Business) had their first date at Nano Brew in Ohio City and seriously committed to each other. A little over a year passed, and it was snowing outside in Ohio City when Tim decided to propose with her grandmother’s diamond in a new setting. Erin was shocked and yet thrilled, and couldn’t believe what was happening until the ring was on her finger. They wanted to have a rustic barn wedding and stumbled across The Columbia Ballroom in Columbia Station, Ohio. The ceremony was held on the beautiful country grounds of the venue, and the couple got married in front of a DIY driftwood archway draped with lace fabric. One of the most unique elements of their wedding was the dried flower arrangements, ranging from the bouquet and boutonnieres to hanging arrangements lining the aisle. The guests were moved into the rustic barn for the reception, decorated with sage plants and antique touches. Table linens were white with a lace overlay, with plant centerpieces accented with wooden slabs, birdcages and branch arrangements. Guests had a variety of desserts to chose from, such as chocolate filled cupcakes with sea salt caramel and the vanilla cake with Swiss meringue buttercream icing. “Do what makes both of you happy. Don’t do something just to please friends or family. It is your special day, so plan one that means something to you as a couple.
