A Fall Barn Wedding at Mount Gulian Historic Site in Beacon, New York

Taking advantage of upstate New York's beautiful fall season, Annie Gormley and Matt Kraus planned a "classically romantic" wedding with modern-industrial elements. The ceremony took place in the garden of Mount Gulian Historic Site. "We rented wood benches instead of chairs so that everyone felt closer and more like family," the couple says. "We had giant urns of florals that flanked our wedding arch, which was naturally overgrown with greenery." For the reception, guests moved inside an old carriage house on the property. Rustic flower arrangements of roses, baby's breath and wildflowers transformed the space—and so did the blue-gray gauze table runners, gold flatware, candles and greenery accents. "Since we met at one of our favorite ski resorts, tables were named after our favorite ski trails," Annie says. "One of my favorite DIY projects from the wedding was the tiny gold skiers for guests to find their seating upon entering the reception. I purchased miniature plastic skiers, spray painted them gold and hung them from tiny nails on a board with a ribbon attached to name cards." 
Our favorite #MakeTradition moment: "Toward the end of the ceremony, we asked all of our family and friends to be involved for what we called a 'community affirmation' right before Matt and I exchanged our own personal vows and rings. Having our whole universe in one place as we exchanged sacred vows while the golden light of the setting sun shone through the greenery in the garden was a dream realized," Annie says.
