A Rustic, Backyard Wedding at a Private Residence in Double Springs, Alabama
Megan Posey (23 and a business manager) and Dean Glass (23 and a salesman) said "I do" at Megan's family lake house, built about 15 years ago on Smith Lake in Double Springs, Alabama. "My grandparents built it, and it has served as a place for weddings, reunions, meetings, showers and retreats," Megan says. "There was no doubt in my mind that we would have our wedding there." The day's decor brought out the natural beauty of the land. Wooden ceremony benches made out of tree trunks, plus banquet tables and open-air seating arrangements, carried the rustic and family-style charm of the wedding. Paying respect to Megan's grandfather, who had died when she was 8, was a memory table. His former desk was used to place framed photos and the drawers were filled with cascading blooms and greens. Other homages to family were catering from close family friends, using china from Megan's parents' wedding and the couple's favorite childhood pies for dessert. —Allie Volpe
