A Rustic and Elegant Wedding at Darlington House in La Jolla, California

Because Samantha Seikkula (27 and an attorney) and Mario Peia’s (30 and a federal prosecutor) home is decked out in blue, gold and millennial pink, it’s no coincidence that their wedding at Darlington House tapped into the same color scheme. The pair wed in front of an iron gateway decorated with roses, tulips, delphinium and eucalyptus. At cocktail hour, guests ordered custom drinks by selecting two adjectives from a laser-cut sign to inspire the bartender—an idea borrowed from The Gin Joint in Charleston, South Carolina, one of the couple’s favorite haunts. Gauzy linens, marbled plates, vellum paper and navy-dipped flatware added dimension to the monochromatic tablescapes, and the landscape created an air of romance. “The stunning rose garden was perfect for dancing under the stars,” Samantha says. After a dessert spread that included chocolate-raspberry and carrot cake dessert cups, the night ended with guests circled up singing “Hey Jude.” “It was awesome to look around and see so many people who have played such a large role in our lives,” Samantha says.
