A Rooftop Wedding With Bold Jewel-Tone Details at Ignite Glass Studios in Chicago

Janeen Williams (25 and a biomedical engineer) and Andrew Dragunas’s (27 and a biomedical engineer and physical therapist) geometric-inspired design was an ideal match for their industrial venue, Ignite Glass Studios. “Bold, jewel-tone colors balanced with a sophisticated blend of mixed metals,” Janeen says. “The result was urban chic.” Linear etching on their stationery and modern décor, like their wire seat assignment display, “created a unified vision of cool that created a lot of excitement for our guests,” Janeen says. The couple’s logo—a minimal graphic in concept—even had a more complex meaning. The “&” was symbolic of their dog, who’s also called “&.”
Janeen paired her gown with an ombré pink veil “because, at the heart of it, my husband and I are playful,” she says. Andrew wore a deep-navy-blue tux.
Having their dog in attendance was a huge priority for Janeen and Andrew. “We wanted the flowers to have a Dr. Seuss–likequality,” Janeen says. King protea added an exotic touch. Because Janeen’s a vegan, she wanted to show off the city’s best vegan treats for their last course, so they offered up cake pops, cupcakes, s’mores over an open fire, cake shots, doughnuts—and three cakes: confetti, cookie monster and thin mint.
Rose gold and copper votives, bright blooms and pyramid shapes of all sizes decorated the reception. A three-dimensional wood structure made up of triangle shapes stood behind the head table. “Our vibe was playful, romantic and just cool,” Janeen says. “Our intent was to bring our whole selves to our wedding and to feel like it was the best reflection of our relationship. Our day was centered around love and the values we share.”
