A Romantic Winter Wedding at Willow Creek Wedding & Event Venue in Waxahachie, Texas

Instead of freezing their outdoor wedding plans on an exceptionally cold winter day, Courtney Raikes (25 and a nurse) and Stephen Raikes (27 and an aquatics coordinator) ran with the theme. To make sure their guests were cozy during their ceremony, they provided blankets, hot chocolate, coffee and hand warmers and proceeded with their plans to be the first couple married at Willow Creek Wedding & Event Venue in Waxahachie, Texas. Courtney and Stephen exchanged heartfelt vows under the white chapel gazebo, enhanced by rustic windowpanes and the open-field backdrop, vibrant purple flowers lining the aisle and the scent of lavender wafting through the crisp air. Later, everyone moved into the colonial-style reception hall, where Courtney and Stephen amplified the winter vibe with deep purple, mint and white hues and Texas-inspired burlap, lace and pearl decor. The celebration centered on Courtney and Stephen’s favorite things, with lots of emphasis on dancing (Stephen’s a pro!) and a first toast with Courtney’s Texas drink of choice, Dr Pepper. At the end of the night, Courtney and Stephen ran through a tunnel of their 200 guests holding sparklers—a magical moment they’ll never forget. “Although Texas decided to be cold on our date, it was still beautiful,” Courtney says. “That day was the happiest day of our lives, and our venue was just perfect.” See the prettiness below, beautifully captured by Jen Hughes Photography.
