A Romantic Winter Barn Wedding at McMenamins in Hillsboro, Oregon
Angela (31 and a sixth grade teacher) and Joseph (31 and a mechanical engineer) met through a mutual friend at lunch while attending the same community college. According to Angela, "I had a MASSIVE crush on him, but was too afraid to say anything!" Eleven years later (Eleven!), Angela was working at an international school in Beijing, and Joseph was planning a business trip there and wanted to meet up. They started dating that summer while Angela was still in China, working out long distance communication with a fifteen hour time difference. When she moved home, Joseph asked her to move in with him, and the rest was history! Joseph proposed a year later while on a hike on romantic trip to Cape Kiwanda. They got married at the Cornelius Pass Roadhouse at McMenamins, a historic venue in Hillsboro, Oregon. The budget-savvy couple managed to cut costs wherever possible while still keeping all of the important and meaningful elements of the day. Their winter wedding had a holiday-inspired color scheme of green and silver that accented the bouquets, bridesmaid dresses, and centerpieces, which also incorporated seasonal pinecones collected from Angela's family cabin.
