A Romantic Winery Wedding at King Family Vineyards in Crozet, Virginia

After getting engaged, Megan Clough (27 and an accountant) and Drew Meli (28 and an IT sales manager) waited a year and a half to get married at their dream venue, King Family Vineyards in Crozet, Virginia—and it was worth the wait.

Living just down the road in Richmond, the couple frequently took weekend trips to the Charlottesville area for hiking and wine tasting. King Family Vineyards, one of their favorite area wineries with its breathtaking views and delicious wine, was the quintessential venue for the couple to celebrate their nuptials surrounded by family and friends.

Megan’s inspiration for their celebration was a festive spring garden party with a relaxed vibe. Opulent floral arrangements and greenery, the main decorative element, was carried throughout the ceremony and reception, blending seamlessly with the beautiful natural backdrop of Virginia’s wine country. “My flowers and bouquet were very important to me,” Megan says  “I love peonies and garden roses, and I wanted them incorporated into the decor.” A neutral color palette of peach, beige and green further complemented the organic aesthetic of their venue.

The couple said “I do” in a sprawling field and then danced and dined in King Family Vineyards' rustic Carriage House, which was adorned with flowers and candles. “The combination of candles and bistro lights hanging from the ceiling made the room feel magical,” Megan says.  —Marissa Hermanson
