A Romantic Wedding at The Old Daley Inn on Crooked Lake in Averill Park, New York
Kristianna Russo (24 and a financial analyst) and Luke Nelson (24 and a social studies teacher) became engaged at the same summer camp where they met as children and began to date. Luke set up a row boat along the lake, which they took to a raft decorated with candles, rose petals and a picture of the pair. “We got on to the raft and after Luke said some amazing things, he got down on his knee and proposed!” says Kristianna. Within a year, the couple planned a romantic wedding in at the Old Daley Inn on Crooked Lake. “When we first got engaged, I did not have any vision for what our wedding would look like other than the fact that I wanted very bright flowers!” says Kristianna. After some research and scouring through pictures, the couple decided on a pink, peach, silver and gray color palette. Kristianna and Luke had a traditional ceremony before the couple and their guests went to the Inn for their cocktail hour. Berry spritzers, appetizers, including the bride’s favorite coconut chicken, and contemporary music from a live cellist and violinist were awaiting them. Inside the ballroom, white linen covered round tables were accented with silver chiavari chairs, lush pink floral centerpieces, silver and white table numbers and tea light candles in clear holders. After a seated meal, Kristianna and Luke’s 220 guests were treated to a pink and white candy bar, Norwegian desserts made by Kristina's mother, Luke’s mother and Luke’s grandmother and two wedding cakes. “Our family takes desserts very seriously!” says Kristianna. Each guest ended the night with a fudge wedding favor, a few pictures in a photo booth and a personal thank you from the couple. “We wanted all our guests to know how grateful we were that they came to support us and celebrate with us,” says Kristanna. Her and Luke left their reception with a festive sparkler exit.
