A Romantic, Vintage Wedding at Union Station in St. Louis, Missouri
Lia Weber (25 and a cake decorator and the owner of Made by Lia) and Maxwell Holter (26 and works in commercial real estate) met on Cinco de Mayo. Lia and her friends stopped into the bar Max and his friends were at, and he offered her a free tequila shot. After a shot of cheap tequila, they started chatting. One thing lead to another, and they exchanged numbers. After a number of failed attempts to take her on a date, Lia finally agreed to meet him for dinner on her last day of college. Despite the fun dates that followed, she still wasn't expecting their relationship to go anywhere when she left for Italy for a month. But when Lia was in Italy she realized she and Max were meant to be together. "Everywhere I went I saw the word "Max"— street names, stores, restaurants, you name it. Max was everywhere!" Things heated up between them when she got back to the States, and about a year and a half later Max popped the question on a morning beach stroll. Union Station in St. Louis, Missouri (a decommissioned train station), provided the perfect backdrop for their wedding day and inspired their vintage romance theme. A dreamy color scheme of soft, blush pink, off white, antique gold and silver along with countless antique details brought it all to life. A professional cake baker, Lia created one that was a work of art. Two days before the wedding, she decided she wanted it suspended from the ceiling. "As if making the wedding cake and 500 macarons weren't enough, I knew I needed to have the wow factor," she says. She got her wish, and her elaborate silver-and-gold-leaf-embellished cake looked amazing hanging from the ceiling. —Meghan Overdeep
