A Romantic, Vintage-Inspired Wedding at Ahmanson Ranch in Calabasas, California
Romantic serenity at its finest. In the Santa Monica Mountains in Calabasas, California, Audrey Ley (28 and a digital director at Us Weekly) and Matt Scheck (32 and a lawyer) held their elegant, vintage-inspired wedding at Ahmanson Ranch, where scenes from many classic movies were filmed, including "Gone with the Wind." “The house on the property was built in the 1930s, and the serenity of the ranch quickly sold us as we were searching for the perfect venue,” Audrey says. The couple chose a blush, ivory and gold palette that was elegant yet subtle enough to accentuate the surrounding beauty at the ranch, captured by Onelove Photography. Audrey wore a champagne-colored wedding dress covered in sequins by Anthropologie's wedding brand BHLDN, while her bridesmaids wore knee-length white dresses, reversing the traditional color scheme usually worn by the bride and her bridesmaids. Audrey’s Texas roots were represented with a few Southern accents, such as the chicken and waffle appetizers and quotes depicting the couple’s favorite country songs, thanks to the help of A Savvy Event. There wasn’t one thing we didn’t like about this wedding, but we especially loved the pink and white watercolor invitations with gold calligraphy that welcomed guests. “There are so many opinions during the wedding-planning process, which can be fun but also overwhelming,” Audrey says. “I found it refreshing to listen to my gut and make decisions quickly before anyone else really had time to influence me.”
