A Romantic, Tuscan-Inspired Wedding at Villa Del Lago in Austin, Texas

Monica Libbey (33 and a banker) and Felipe Fernandes (33 and an engineer) met at a bar in Dallas, when Felipe approached Monica asking if she wanted to ‘invest in his man purse business.’ “Pretty clever line if you ask me… how do you not ask him a question after that to find out what he is talking about?” says Monica. Later that night, the couple and their friends had a Michael Jackson tribute dance party, and four years later, Monica and Felipe got engaged in a vineyard in Sonoma, California. The couple chose to be married at Villa Del Lago in Austin, Texas, for its Tuscan, vineyard atmosphere overlooking the Lake Travis. “We got married over the lake, held the cocktail hour on the lawn, had dinner surrounded by the manicured garden by the waterfall and danced the night away under the stars. It was a perfect balance of whimsical, rustic and modern,” says Monica. The ceremony music incorporated two of the couple’s favorites: The wedding party and family walked down the aisle to The Beatles, and the newlyweds boogied back down the aisle to “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” by Michael Jackson. They incorporated Brazilian music in their cocktail hour to include the groom’s heritage, and brought in a motown-inspired band for their reception. “Our wedding captured things such as color, food, music, heritage, style, personality and the people that we love to represent us well and independently,” says the bride.
