A Romantic, Lavender-and-Gold Wedding at The Ryland Inn in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey

Allie Nunn (27 and a social work grad student) and Kayla Borden (29 and an eCommerce specialist) envisioned an outdoor ceremony, since they both grew up in the Pine Barrens and are most comfortable outside. At The Ryland Inn, a historic horse farm, they hung jars of flowers on chairs along the aisle and marked the altar with simple crates. “It was important for the natural beauty of the venue, and us, to be the focus,” Allie says. After reciting personal vows, the couple tied rope into a double fisherman’s knot that they now keep at home. A 30-foot stone fireplace defined the airy ballroom where the reception was held. Guests took their seats at tables topped with eucalyptus, lisianthus, thistle, dahlias, astilbe, peonies and dusty miller, and dined on crispy pork belly with apples, mushrooms and white truffle essence. Dessert was a light vanilla sponge cake with lemon mousse filling. For their first dance, the brides chose a song they often spin to at home: “Somebody Loves You” by Betty Who.
