A Romantic, Rustic Wedding at The Speak Easy in Indianapolis, Indiana
Despite having several friends in common, Meghan (31 and a fundraising professional) and James (31 and an entrepreneur) did not get to know one another until meeting on OKCupid. After discovering that they both planned to attend the same networking party, they decided to make a date of it. The same night, they realized their shared love for the same cocktail bar, The Libertine, where they stayed talking for almost five hours. At the end of the night, Meghan drove him home, where he bashfully offered a handshake goodbye. Embarrassed by how he concluded an otherwise perfect evening, James immediately texted to confirm their next date. Today, a screenshot of that text message is framed in their bedroom as a loving reminder of their meet. (Cute!) One year later, they stumbled into a jewelry store in Kansas City, where they found the perfect vintage engagement ring. The?ring needed some work done, so James had a few weeks to plan the proposal. When the ring was ready, he took her out to brunch, got her to drive them home, and recreated the end of their very first date. He shook her hand, knelt on the floor of her Honda Accord, and explained how this time when he offered his hand, he wanted it to be for forever. They were married in Indianapolis, Indiana at The Speak Easy, a renovated-warehouse-turned-collaborative-workspace for entrepreneurs, of which James is a board member.
