A Romantic, Rustic Wedding at The Parador in Houston, Texas
At the end of a nice dinner, the cheesecake dessert for Ali Wu (30 and a dental student) and Jay Brummerhop (34 and an internaitonal commercial lender) came out with a private joke written on the edge of the plate. “This was not the first occasion we had a special dessert with words written on the plate,” says Ali, “but this night, Jay seemed more nervous.” With his hands clutched around the ring box, he got down on one knee… and Ali said yes! The couple chose to get married at The Parador, a historical landmark rich with Mediterranean style and colorful Byzantine detail and tiles in Houston, Texas. Their style was classic and timeless with a rustic, romantic atmosphere and lots of DIY details. The ceremony took place outside in the garden a dusk underneath an arch of twigs and flowers. At the reception dinner, Ali and Jay surprised their guests with Chinese Lion Dancers, which had everyone smiling and cheering, just like they wanted. They said farewell with a final dance to “She’s Like Texas” by the Josh Abbott Band and rolled away in a vintage Rolls-Royce with Ali’s new last name on the front license plate.
