A Romantic Rustic Wedding at Oak Hill Farms in The Rock, Georgia
Though they both grew up in the same town, Heather White, 31, an RN and Jerry Walker, 39, a musician, never really knew each other. Their paths finally crossed while visiting a mutual friend. Jerry was instantly smitten and asked their friend for Heather’s phone number and things escalated from there. Four years later, Jerry asked Heather to marry him while on a weekend getaway in Blue Ridge, North Carolina. The couple planned an elegant, rustic chic wedding with lots of vintage touches, choosing Oak Hill Farms in The Rock, GA for their venue. The historic property, which boasts a rustic barn, a cabin built in the 1800’s where the bridal party can get ready, a quaint garden and acres upon acres of breathtaking pastures, fit perfectly with their weddings theme and created a stunning backdrop for the event. The couple chose a dramatic color palette of dark purple, ivory and gray that played up the natural setting and added a subtle regal note to the décor. Heather and her bridesmaids carried lush bouquets of hydrangeas, roses and calla lilies in the day’s color scheme and the ceremony site, from the stone fountain to the ceremony aisle, were decked out with hydrangeas, planted boxwoods and bunches of bright purple flowers. A harp rendition of “In my Life” and “All You Need is Love,” and the moment when Jerry gave Heather’s six-year-old-daughter, Edith, a diamond ring and exchanged vows with her as well, were special touches that made the day feel even more personal and meaningful.
