A Romantic, Rustic Wedding at Berry Hill Farm in Anoka, Minnesota
Wanting their wedding to be organic and airy, Heather Douglas (24 and a graphic designer) and Brian Douglas (24 and a project manager) chose Berry Hill Farm in Anoka, Minnesota, for their nuptials. They loved the open, yellow fields and lush trees that were changing in the season. “We had our wedding at a farm in a small town just north of Minneapolis called Berry Hill Farm,” Heather says. “We knew that we wanted a location that would be fun and memorable, as well as family friendly. It was the most beautiful backdrop to our day, and although it was a bit chilly, the outdoor ceremony was beautiful.” An unfinished wooden arbor adorned with cascading vines framed their romantic vows, which they wrote themselves and didn’t hear until the wedding. Heather’s father also officiated the wedding for an ultra-personal touch. One of our favorite parts were the gorgeous silk flower floral arrangements, including peonies and metallic berries in lieu of live arrangements. Heather and Brian—with the help of their family and friends—made a lot of the decor themselves, such as the flowers and the wooden arch reception decor and the cupcake desserts. Not afraid to enjoy food they loved, Heather and Brian catered Chili's for dinner. “It was a seriously good decision,” Heather says. “Their service was amazing and the food was delicious.” For dessert, the couple cut a two-tier yellow buttercream-decorated cake and served homemade cupcakes in flavors ranging from lemon blueberry to chocolate peanut butter cup.
