A Romantic, Rose-Filled Wedding at Anderson House in Washington, DC

When Darby Rappuhn (left, 24 and a Juris Doctorate candidate) and Kaitlyn Findley (26 and a lawyer) first stumbled upon the Anderson House's website, it took the couple less than two minutes to decide it was the right venue for their summer ceremony. “We fell in love with the grandness of Anderson House,” Darby says. “We sent in the deposit, sight unseen.” From there, the brides began collaborating with their planner on how to blend the dramatic setting of the historic marble ballroom with their desired floral displays and nods to their Southern backgrounds. Before the ceremony, the brides exchanged love letters calligraphed onto linen handkerchiefs. Crystal candelabras flanked the altar space, a giant flower wall of ivory and champagne roses and pillar candles. To match the day's vibe, Darby’s gown featured a skirt of fabric rosettes while Kaitlyn’s was covered in floral-shaped crystal embroidery.  The pair's collective three bridesmaids wore plum-colored dresses and carried bright bouquets. Voluminous rose centerpieces topped the reception tables. To end the night, guests ate some of the couple's favorite Southern bites, including mini chicken pot pies and mini tacos paired with nips of tequila. Everyone sipped old-fashioneds crafted with Woodford Reserve before heading to the after-party at a nearby classic DC haunt.
