A Romantic Nautical Wedding at Chatham Bars Inn in Chatham, Massachusetts
Jessica Oxton (28 and a therapist) and Gabriel Carreiro (29 and a lawyer) met during their undergraduate studies at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts. After taking a statistics course together through the spring semester of their junior year, they began dating that summer. On April 21, 2013 Gabriel brought Jessica to Singing Beach in Manchester By the Sea, a spot they frequented throughout college under the impression they were meeting friends for a birthday brunch. Unbeknownst to her, Gabriel had been saving all the cards, post it notes, movie tickets, pictures from trips and other small memorabilia from their seven years together and buried all of it in a box at the beach for her to find that day. He had their friends videotape and photograph the moment as he proposed to her on the beach. When looking for a venue, not only did Gabriel and Jessica feel that Chatham Bars Inn embodied the refined Cape Cod style they were looking for, but it was also the location of numerous memories throughout their relationship. To keep the theme preppy and simple, the color palette was light pink, gray with accents of light blue. Cocktail hour served mini lobster rolls, crab cakes, a full raw bar, and specialty cocktails while dinner provided fresh produce from the Chatham Bars Inn private farm to accompany their filet of cod, shrimp, or braised chicken breast. With food and music to keep the party going until the next morning, the festivities continued the following day with an all-day beach party with 30 of their closest friends on Lighthouse Beach. "One of the best things about getting married on a Friday night in the summer was that we didn’t have to spend the following morning saying good-bye to all of our friends and family," says Jessica.
