A Romantic, Natural Wedding at the Hyatt Lake Tahoe at Incline Village, Nevada

Amber Silva (27, bridal salon owner) and Derik Silva (32, sales) met while she was driving him home from a night of dancing with mutual friends. “In those five minutes, we really connected,” says Amber, and a week later, Derik asked her out on their first date. When Amber graduated from college, Derik planned a surprise engagement at Lake Tahoe with all of Amber’s family; he put one knee down in the sand and proposed at the beach at their lake house. When deciding where to have their ceremony, the couple looked all over before the perfect place finally hit them: Lake Tahoe, a place that is very special to them and their families, where they spend all of their free time and got engaged. The ceremony took place on the beach at Lakeside Ballroom at the Hyatt in Incline Village. Guests were serenaded to the acoustics of Bobby Jo Valentine in the warm sunshine and treated to lavender champagne, chilled grapes and parasols for shade. After Amber and Derik said “I do,” the wedding party hopped into a yacht for a private spin around Lake Tahoe to listen to music and enjoy the beautiful weather. Guests enjoyed traditional Tahoe rum runners during the cocktail hour before moving into a laid-back dinner in the ballroom. “I had always loved lavender, so the wedding centered around that color and flower,” says Amber. Lavender was incorporated throughout the wedding: Amber’s bouquet had lavender, as did Derik’s boutonniere, and each guest had a piece of lavender at their place setting. Amber and Derik’s casual beach wedding had a very natural, wildflower look to perfectly match the breathtaking mountains and nature at Lake Tahoe.
