A Romantic Mountain Wedding at River Dance Lodge in Kooskia, Idaho

Betsy and Nick Thiry drew inspiration from the forested mountains and shimmering Clearwater River surrounding the River Dance Lodge to give their early fall wedding a touch of rustic, romantic flair. “We really wanted a mountain escape for our wedding—a whole weekend in the mountains with our closest friends and family with no cell service!” Betsy says. “I grew up spending summers on that river, so the location was near and dear to my heart.” The pair chose a color palette of merlot and coral to contrast the lush green setting and incorporated natural wood elements throughout for a cozy, country feel. Many of the day’s details were made by Betsy, Nick, and family and friends, from the textured dahlia centerpieces to the pallet signage and the whimsical birch and ribbon aisle markers at the ceremony. Galvanized buckets, vintage lace and macramé hangings were woven throughout, striking the ideal balance of bohemian and old-world flair. One of the event’s standout details was the photo booth tent, decked out in fly fishing elements (one of Nick’s favorite hobbies) and plenty of camp-inspired touches. “Nick and I wrote our own vows, which is something I cherish the most from our wedding,” Betsy says. “The week of our wedding, we actually read them to each other at home. This was an intimate way for us to say our vows one-on-one and to truly hear the words the other person was saying without all of the nerves.”
