A Romantic, Modern Wedding at the Landmark Center in St. Paul, Minnesota

You could say that it was the Boston Bruins that brought Lindsay Corbo (31 and director of events for Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital) and John Cadigan (28 and fan relations manager for the Boston Bruins) together. The two were introduced on Lindsay’s first day on the job with the NHL team and quickly became good friends. A year later they decided to take things to the next level, giving a relationship a go, and it wasn’t long before John popped the question. On a warm summer night he took Lindsay to the skywalk observatory in Boston, where, overlooking the city’s most prominent landmarks that had become an important part of their story, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. When it came to planning their wedding, the couple looked to Lindsay’s home state of Minnesota to host the affair. The Landmark Center in downtown St. Paul proved to be the perfect spot; the former federal courthouse boasting a five-story atrium flanked with stately columns and plenty of old world charm. Personal touches were an important component of the d?cor for the couple and they spent the months leading up to the wedding handcrafting everything from hand-lettered street signs for the table names to mini hockey puck place card holders, a nod to the sport that brought them together. Wanting to incorporate their family and friends into the day’s events as much as possible, they had a close friend officiate the ceremony, family members do the readings and Lindsay’s cousin performed all of the music for the ceremony. A paper flower ceremony backdrop, a canopy of airy fabric panels strung across the ceiling and warm auburn uplighting were key in bringing Lindsay and John’s romantic vision to life and heightened the elegant, whimsical vibe of the Landmark Center's historic space. A tip for the taking from Lindsay: “Select a great venue, and hire great vendors. I felt like my vendors were more like friends before the celebration ended.”
