A Romantic, Modern Wedding at Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea in Sweimeh, Jordan
Shahd al-Fayez (27 and an HR assistant) and Subhi Armoush (32 and a deputy CEO) planned a romantic, modern affair on the shores of the Dead Sea for their early-October wedding in Sweimeh, Jordan. Situated on the edge of the infamous salt lake, the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea offered a dramatic backdrop for the couple’s “I dos.” Taking advantage of the setting, Shahd and Subhi gathered their guests for a sunset ceremony. Subhi was joined by a traditional zaffeh for his walk down the aisle, while Shahd was accompanied by her father. Arabic and English songs, as well as a few cultural staples, were performed live during the ceremony, elevating the evening’s energy and getting guests in the mood to celebrate. As guests arrived at the reception, they were led to their seats by an usher. Each table was named for a different flower. With breathtaking views of the beach and the colorful sunset at their disposal, Shahd and Subhi opted for understated yet elegant decor. Adorned with blue-and-white-patterned vases overflowing with fresh white blooms specially ordered from the Netherlands, textured dinnerware and lots of candlelight, the whitewashed wooden tables exuded a modern, romantic vibe. A canopy of lanterns hung over the dance floor, creating an intimate atmosphere for the postdinner celebrations. A tip from Subhi: “Enjoy every moment preparing for this special day. And choose a theme that's representative of you both. Opt for something simple yet elegant and different.” —Libby MacCarthy
