A Romantic Lavender Wedding at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri

Melissa Blauch (27 and a nurse) and Jesse Wilhite (28 and a sales adviser) met while kickboxing. Jesse planned on spending the day with Melissa and then popping the question over dinner; however, he came home, walked through the front door with the ring in his hand and got down on one knee in the middle of the kitchen and asked her to marry him. The couple chose lavender for their day because Melissa is a cancer survivor of Hodgkins Lymphoma. She has been in remission for seven years and lavender is the color of the Hodgkins Lymphoma awareness ribbon. They complemented the lavender with shades of white and blush and tied it together with the venue's natural vintage details. “The inside of the clubhouse screams vintage and elegance and was already so detailed that little decor needed to be used to get the feel we wanted.” The best part? The choreographed first dance to “Can You Feel The Loved Tonight” by Sydney Shyrock. “Jesse is not the kind of guy you would imagine to see step out and have learned a ballroom dance,” Melissa says. “That was a special moment to us on the wedding day and leading up to it though our dance lessons and practicing every evening in the garage.”
