A Romantic Industrial-Chic Wedding at The Hobbs Building in Kansas City, Missouri

Though neither Decemeber Ruth-Smith (31 and owner of Soir?e Event Designs) nor Scott Brammer (32 and an estimator) are hail from Kansas City, the couple wanted to showcase the place they’ve come to love and call home for their industrial-chic celebration.

Fall-inspired florals, sequined linens and gold dinnerware lent a hint of glamour to the couple’s urban venue. Instead of sealing the deal with a unity candle, the pair opted for a love lock ceremony to symbolize their union.

After the “I do’s,” signature his and hers cocktails were served during the reception along with a tiered preppy striped confection that featured four distinct flavors: devil’s food Grand Marnier, apple spice, lemon poppy seed and classic white cake filled with almond cream.

Escort cards were tied to skeleton keys and personalized thank-you notes that expressed how each guest played a “key” part in the couple’s lives. For the reception, Decemeber traded in her traditional veil for a chic, boho headpiece. “Pulling all of my hair up made it easier to dance the night away,” she says.
