A Romantic Garden Wedding at Fish in Charleston, South Carolina
It was by chance that Lecian Gardner (aged 33) and Scott Dehbozorgi (41 and owner of a construction layout company) reconnected after falling out of touch for a few years. The two randomly bumped into each other in Athens, GA, where Lecian was living at the time, and things just clicked. The couple started dating almost immediately and Lecian relocated to Charleston, SC. It was there, three years later on Lecian’s birthday that Scott proposed. “He got down on one knee in the middle of the restaurant, in front of everyone. It was such a sweet moment and it was made even more special by Scott having arranged for our closest friends to meet us for drinks to celebrate afterwards,” says Lecian.Wanting an intimate, romantic celebration in the heart of Charleston, Lecian and Scott kept the guest list small and opted to host the affair at Washington Square Park. The park offered a quaint, tranquil setting for the couple to say their “I do’s,” as well as plenty of lush greenery, fresh blooms and shady Oak trees that the couple draped with airy chiffon fabric to create a ceremony backdrop. Pink rose petals lined the aisles and the historic architecture and cobblestone streets surrounding the space added a note of old world charm. While guests waited for the festivities to begin, they sipped on cool cucumber water and spiked lemonade, while a live band softy in the background. Following the ceremony, the couple was whisked off to the reception in a rickshaw dripping with lush white blooms. “This was probably the most memorable moment of the night for us, because we spent about 30 minutes alone riding around downtown Charleston, just soaking everything in,” says Lecian. The focus for the evening was on creating a fun, laid-back environment where guests could let loose. “It was an intimate reception full of close friends and immediate family. It was important to us to have good food, good drinks, and good music,” says Lecian. The band The Cordovans got everyone out on the dance floor, while a decadent menu of everything from mini lobster rolls to lamb kebabs, short ribs and seared scallops cooked up by Fish, made sure no one went through the night hungry. Candles and bunches of bright exotic and rustic blooms topped each of the reception tables for a modern, romantic vibe.
