A Romantic, Garden-Inspired Wedding at Orfila Vineyards in Escondido, California
Surrounded by the vineyards with a backdrop of the mountain ranges, Orfila Vineyards in Escondido, California provided the perfect setting for this garden-inspired, romantic wedding. “With beautiful San Diego weather, we wanted an outdoor location for both the ceremony and reception,” Vita Gorkova (30 and in finance) says of her marriage to Simon Schultz (31 and in information technology). “Orfila offered that with a ceremony lawn overlooking the vineyard and a nearby reception tent that opened up nicely to vineyard view as well.” Vita picked out an old-fashioned ivory wedding dress accented with lace that had an illusion neckline in the back and front, captured beautifully on camera by We Heart Photography. In a color palette of purples, pinks and greens, the outdoor space was decked out with roses, chrysanthemums, peonies and several other flowers that accented the space—from the wedding arch covered in fuchsia flowers and greenery to the overflowing arrangements in gold vases found at the reception. Guests were invited to the occasion with white stationery bordered with floral designs that reflected the color palette, wrapped with a lace sleeve that had a paper heart on top. After the ceremony with a backdrop of the green speckled vineyards, guests were seated at dining tables covered with damask-patterend white linens for the tented reception. The four-tiered lavender cake accented with white lace embodied a classic style, which was filled with almond raspberry that both Vita and Simon loved. Our favorite detail? The purple heart-shaped box that were filled with Jordan Almonds and wine stoppers, which served as wedding favors that Vita and Simon put together themselves. "We purchased 200 heart-shaped papier-mache boxes and special ordered a stamp from Brightly Designed, who did all of our stationery," Vita says. "All we needed to do was paint the boxes, dry them and heat emboss them with the stamp."
