A Romantic, Garden-Inspired Wedding at Hotel Domestique in Travelers Rest, South Carolina
Courtney Mills always wanted a garden-inspired wedding, and that idea took center stage when she wed Dan Roberts. "Ever since I was a little girl, I loved the movie Steel Magnolias," she says. "My favorite scene in the entire movie is Shelby's wedding. Her ceremony was dripping with floral vines and greenery. I was definitely inspired by the movie, but knew I wanted a more modernized version that incorporated blush accents." The ceremony was set against a majestic mountain range. The couple stood beneath a wedding arch blooming with flowers and greenery, and lush arrangements also lined the aisle. Guests attended cocktail hour with bites like lobster rolls, lamb sliders, fruit tarts, gazpacho, meats and cheese. "Once you entered the secret garden (our reception), guests were greeted with soft candlelight, more than 30 flower arrangements and rustic wood tables surrounding the beautiful fountain at Hotel Domestique," Courtney says. "The feel of the reception was enchanting and romantic." Guests dined on steak filets, herb salad with goat cheese, shrimp and grits, and roasted spring veggies. As a personal touch, the couple also served dinner rolls branded with their monogram. Other details included rustic centerpieces with roses and wildflowers, custom-made macarons and a square wedding cake with a whimsical flower design. Courtney stunned in a horsehair dress with an added lace overlay and sleeves. Dan chose a navy-blue suit with a light gray vest and burgundy tie.
