A Romantic, Farm-Chic Wedding at Babel's Barn in Wood River, Nebraska

Native Nebraskans Miranda Driewer and Gabe Dietrich pulled off a farm-chic fete with a hint of bohemian flair for their summer wedding at Babel’s Barn in Wood River. From the florals to the fashion, every detail spoke to the romantic country theme. Arrangements of king proteas, pincushion flowers, roses and red amaranthus in deep shades of burgundy were displayed atop distressed barrels, while cow skulls, vintage decorative details and cowhide table cloths delivered an element of visual intrigue and country charm. In lieu of the traditional tuxedo, Gabe and his groomsmen donned jeans, boots and tweed vests for a perfectly polished yet laid-back look. Miranda also put a theme-appropriate twist on her “I do” duds, ditching classic pumps in favor of her favorite pair of cowboy boots. A live band and lawn games kept guests busy during cocktail hour, before everyone was ushered into the barn for dinner and dancing. “My favorite part of the entire day was during the reception. We were all done with the traditional festivities (first dances, bouquet toss, etc.) and our photographer and videographer wanted some sunset shots,” Miranda says. “They took us out on the road, and in that moment, we were both just so relaxed and overwhelmingly happy. There was no more stress that sometimes comes with planning a wedding. The feeling of joy that both of us felt in that moment was indescribable.”
