Tucked away on 25 acres of lavender fields, enormous cottonwood trees and lush formal gardens, Catie Russell and Sam Walker’s fall wedding at the historic Los Poblanos Ranch fused classic elegance and Southwestern style. To complement the venue, the pair chose a color palette of cool neutral tones with plenty of greenery and fresh lavender. The hand-tied florals had a just-picked feel with a rich, textured mix of classic blooms and wildflowers that lent each arrangement a hint of visual drama. “The reception was all about the florals,” Catie says. “A 70-foot garland from Renegade Floral spanned the main table.” The pair exchanged “I dos” indoors, then invited guests onto the Grand Portal for dinner and drinks. The ivy-covered portico offered guests views of the sunset over the Sandia Mountains and the venue’s perfectly manicured gardens as they dined. Dozens of taper candles were scattered throughout, their golden light casting a warm, romantic glow over the outdoor space. The menu was a celebration of local flavors and featured a decadent lineup of empanadas, carne adovada, ribeye with green chile, lavender lemonade, and local beer and wine. “Sam’s dad has a popcorn store in town, so he made a special batch of lavender-vanilla popcorn, which we gave to guests as gifts,” Catie says.
