A Romantic Fall Orchard Wedding at the Historic Round Barn and Farm Market in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Megan (29 and an executive associate) and Brian (32 and a framer) met through a series of convenient exchanges; they went to the same high school, had mutual friends try to set them up, and ran into one another at the gym, but they didn't go out until getting each other's phone numbers on Match.com. They had their first date at the Gettysburg Outlets with a day of shopping and dinner. "We were instantly comfortable with each other and became immediately inseparable," Megan says. A year later, Brian proposed on a hike through Michaux State Forest. The outdoorsy couple held their wedding at the Historic Round Barn and Farm Market, a barn in the middle of an orchard with an outdoor chapel built in the woods, in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. They first picked their flowers--sunflowers--before figuring out their navy yellow color scheme. The wedding party dressed in gray suits and navy cocktail-length dresses with yellow pocket squares and yellow sunflower bouquets and boutonnieres. Megan designed her own programs and even "I Spy" cards for guests to play throughout the wedding, encouraging them to take their own photos with disposable cameras. At the reception, guests found their place cards, glass jars that doubled as wedding favors, as they could later be hand-filled at a custom trail mix bar. Considering that the wedding took place at an orchard, Megan and Brian wanted to continue with the apple theme in their menu, arranging a catered dinner with apples in almost every dish. For dessert, they served a three-tier spice cake with marbled pumpkin and chocolate filling. Brian put his framing skills to the test with the wedding decor and centerpieces, handmade frames with pictures of the couple that guests could later take home. At the end of the night, guests were transported from the wedding in hay wagons as a last orchard-themed wedding hoorah. Unbelievably, Megan and Brian planned and executed their wedding in just five months, but all their hard work paid off in one magical fall wedding.
