A Romantic, Ethereal Wedding at Wentworth by the Sea in Rye, New Hampshire
Rebecca Santos (27 and an e-commerce merchandiser) and Cory Varney’s (29 and a pharmaceuticals account manager) late-summer wedding in Rye, New Hampshire, exuded bohemian romance with a touch of old-world elegance. With the help of the I Do Scene planning team and a palette of ivory, cream, champagne, gold and blush, the pair transformed their classic Sperry Tent at Wentworth by the Sea into a chic, ethereal scene. Taking advantage of their venue’s seaside location, Rebecca and Cory gathered their guests at water’s edge for a traditional heartwarming ceremony. “We selected this location because our relationship began right down the road in downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire, so it made sense to be close by,” Rebecca says. To let the beauty of the setting shine through, the couple kept the decor simply, adding but two floral arrangements at the head of the aisle to frame them as they exchanged vows.
After saying “I do,” Rebecca and Cory joined their guests on the lawn for signature ACK Lemonade cocktails (a nod to their proposal in Nantucket, Massachusetts) and lawn games like corn hole, followed by dinner and dancing under the spacious Sperry tent. The open-air venue was awash with stunning details, from the wooden farm tables draped in lush floral garlands to the hand-lettered table numbers and oyster-shell place cards and eucalyptus leaves that adorned each table setting. Arrangements of hydrangeas, roses, rock and tube roses in gold-footed bowls set atop the round tables gave the decor a touch of timeless charm. A tip from Rebecca: “Don't rush into anything when planning—and enjoy every minute, because it flies by.” —Libby MacCarthy
