A Romantic Country Wedding at Town Square in Paola, Kansas
Ashley Morefield (22 and a florist) and Jonathan (Jonny) Foote's (22 and in landscaping) story began at a wedding, but it wasn’t their own. Instead, they first met at Ashley’s brother’s wedding reception in Colorado. “The first time we talked, Jonny asked me to dance at the reception,” Ashley says. After getting engaged, the couple found their perfect venue at Town Square in Paola, Kansas—a restored two-story building with exposed-brick walls, hardwood floors, plenty of natural lighting and a tin-stamped ceiling. “I loved the small-town charm surrounding the space,” Ashley says. “It was completely uncharacteristic of Kansas.” Their romantic design came to life using hand-designed invitations, gold lanterns, string lights and a muted palette of blush, navy and ivory. Popular Kansas City food truck Beauty of the Bistro catered the party, complete with burgers, “boom boom” smoked pork tacos and a mac and cheese bar. McLain’s Bakery in Kansas City created a tiered, almond-flavored confection for the reception, along with a sprinkle-covered cake for the bride’s grandfather. “His 90th birthday was the following day,” Ashley says. “The bakery did such a great job—they even made my parents’ wedding cake over 30 years ago!” —Chrissy Sorenson
