A Romantic, Contemporary Wedding at RT Lodge in Maryville, Tennessee

Warm candlelight and plenty of unique, modern touches put a chic twist on Melissa Grimes and Patrick McInerney elegant nuptials at the RT Lodge in Maryville, Tennessee.

“I’m an event planner and Patrick is a graphic designer, so from the beginning of the planning process it was really important to both of us that we had our hands in everything from start to finish—and for the wedding to not only reflect our style as a couple, but also to be a blast for our guests!” Melissa says.

With a simple black-and-white color palette as the base for their design, the couple infused the event with personal flair through custom-designed stationery and labels, modern acrylic candelabras and copper geometric terrariums. Understated white florals and lush greenery provided put a fresh, fuss-free finish on the décor.

To ensure an intimate ambience, an abundance of candles and charming strands of bistro lights were incorporated throughout the open-air reception tent.

“The day of the wedding it ended up pouring rain,” Melissa says, “but I remember my dad walking me into the ceremony tent filled with our family and friends, with candlelight lining the aisle and the sound of rain coming down outside, and just thinking that I wouldn’t have wanted this moment or day to be any different than it was—it was completely filled with joy.”
