A Romantic Castle Wedding at The Hempstead House in Sands Point, New York
Lauren and Darryl were brought together by a mutual friend, so it was fitting that their wedding highlight the people they cherish most. The bride’s mom took the reigns with the wedding favors, baking black cake as an homage to the couple’s Jamaican roots, and one of the groomsmen stepped up to print all the escort cards at the last minute. Plus, as a gift to Lauren, Darryl and his groomsmen performed a choreographed dance later in the evening. Lauren and Darryl envisioned a timeless, classic wedding, using details like violin music and waterfront views to bring it to life. Lauren and Darryl kept it classic with Lauren wearing a strapless fit-and-flare gown and gold headpiece, and Darryl in a sleek tuxedo. Lauren’s unique headpiece took her over a year to find, but in the end, she “absolutely loved the gold floral crown.” Wood Chiavari chairs and neutral linens accented the Hempstead House’s architecturally stunning ballroom. In addition to garden roses, scabiosa and ranunculus, the green and white centerpieces overflowed with olive leaf and eucalyptus.
