A Romantic Brunch Wedding at The River House at Lowndes Grove Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina
High school sweethearts Katie Elliott (28 and in human resources) and Ben Fenner (32 and a software developer) dated for ten years before getting engaged just before Christmas. The following fall, the pair exchanged vows during an intimate morning ceremony at The River House at Lowndes Grove Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. "I've always wanted to have an outdoor wedding and the waterfront views at Lowndes Grove were spectacular," says Katie. "The intimacy of the setting was perfect for a small wedding!" Since they decided to host a brunch reception, the couple decided to keep the decor minimal and relied mostly on the venue's beautiful waterfront scenery. For an extra touch of romance, the couple added pops of gold throughout their soft pink decor and gave their florist the freedom to create their textured hydrangea and rose centerpieces. For their early afternoon celebration, they pair served Bloody Marys, mimosas, pancakes, shrimp and grits, made-to-order omelets and hash browns. In addition to the live band, a variety of lawn games (Including corn hole, ladder golf, chess and giant jenga) were set up for guests to enjoy. "The laid back atmosphere best reflected us as a couple," says Katie. "Nothing was too formal and we didn't' take ourselves too seriously—we just wanted guests to be able to enjoy themselves in a variety of ways."
