A Romantic Bank Vault Wedding at 8th & Main in Grandview, Missouri

Though Alexandria and Marcus's Valentine’s Day proposal, which took place while dancing at a John Legend concert as the songbird himself gave a shout-out from stage, was nothing short of extravagant, their wedding 17 months later was intentionally low-key. “We knew we wanted something intimate, simple and rustic,” Alexandria says. “I remember watching Twilight and being in awe of Bella and Edward’s wedding, and their explosion of flowers,” she says. “I imagined our wedding day being similar to that, except on a smaller scale.” Marcus wore an antique linen dinner jacket that he bought even before he proposed, while Alexandria went with a blush gown. The college sweethearts threw it back by adding line dances to the reception set list, but they went with a much slower and especially sentimental choice for their first dance: John Legend’s “Slow Dance.” “We loved the welcoming interior, wood tables, exposed ceilings and antique glamour of 8th & Main,” Alexandria says. Simple décor offset the overflowing greenery and flowers and created what Alexandria calls “ethereal flair.” Not only is the couple a fan of red velvet cake, but so is Alexandria’s mom. They all plan to share the top tier on the pair’s anniversary.
