A Romantic and Understated Marina Wedding at The Charleston Yacht Club Charleston, South Carolina

From the first day that Kaitlyn Hege (22 and a photographer) hung out with Tony Tassarotti (22 and a Cinematographer) during college, she knew there was something special. "After dating for a while, we took a walk on the beach after dinner and stopped where you can see Charleston all lit up at night," says Kaitlyn. "Tony got down on one knee and asked me to marry him—it was personable and yet no one was there!" says Kaitlyn. The couple worked together to plan their cheerful waterfront wedding at The Charleston Yacht Club in Charleston, South Carolina. Guests gathered under a tented deck to witness their intimate vows with a nautical marina backdrop before celebrating with a casual indoor reception. "We had our wedding at The Charleston Yacht Club because it's in the heart of Charleston and we wanted to show our guest the city where we fell in love with," says Kaitlyn. "A majority were from out of town, like Wisconsin, New York and North Carolina, so we at least wanted to give them a taste of the south with our menu!" Kaitlyn's anemone, garden rose and peony arrangements turned out to be one of her favorite parts about the entire wedding and her colorful blooms with gold vases warmed the simple space. The couple's dog, Miller, joined Kaitlyn during her bridal portrait session and these pictures were incorporated throughout the decor in honor of their beloved pooch. In addition to cake, guests were treated to delicate buttercream cupcakes with contemporary heart toppers before a night of dancing.
