A Romantic and Rustic Wedding at Cielo Farms in Malibu, California
Sarah Budhiman and Dylan Hooe had a "coastal, laid-back wedding" that reflected the life they've built on the West Coast. "I guess you could say the inspiration was California," Sarah says. "We selected Cielo Farms as our venue because of its beautiful outdoor landscape and coastal breeze, and we decorated it with bright flowers and touches of marsala, sand and navy." Sarah wore a romantic crepe dress with dainty white buds over beige tulle. Her bouquet included flowers like roses, peonies, anemones and ranunculus—and it complemented the bridesmaids' jewel-toned gowns perfectly. Dylan and his groomsmen sported classic navy tuxedos. The ceremony, which was officiated by the couple's mutual friend, took place underneath a wooden arch draped with white linen. Mountains rose in the background, and classic folding chairs lined up on the lawn. After the vows everyone attended an outdoor cocktail hour and reception near a rustic stone barn. Guests sat at rectangular tables covered in white linens, and they ate a variety of foods throughout the night. "We served avocado toast appetizers along with other bright, colorful produce. We featured a signature Mezcal cocktail inspired by our favorite spot in Santa Monica, a coffee bar serving matcha lattes and a selection of craft beers from California breweries," Sarah says. As another personal touch, the couple did a “Yam Seng” (traditional cheers in Malaysia) to celebrate the bride's southeastern Asian heritage. "All the guests yelled at the top of their lungs in unison, and they held the words “Yam Seng” as long as they could to bring blessings to the couple," Sarah explains.
