Jennifer (Jen) Hagerman (35, a pharmacist) and Daniel (Dan) Farrell (33, a director of Athletics) first met when Jen came to a basketball game Dan was coaching. “I remember I couldn't take my eyes off her as she walked from one end of the court to the other,” says Dan. “As a coach I should have been preparing for my game, but I couldn't stop looking at this stunning woman.” It turned out that Dan had grown up with Jen’s brother-in-law. The couple and a few friends met after the game for drinks and the two went out a few months later in Grand Rapids. “If you ask me, it took too long for us to see each other again!” says Dan. He proposed during a vacation with Jen’s family to Vail, Colorado. After a day of skiing and dinner at a local restaurant, the couple went for a walk and stopped at a bridge overlooking Gore Creek. When the crowd thinned out, Dan got down on one knee. “We didn’t realize it but a crowd had gathered to watch and starting cheering when I said yes,” says Jen. “I felt like we were in a scene straight out of a romantic comedy.” They were wed nine months later in front of 140 friends and family members in Palm Beach, Florida.

The couple chose midnight navy tuxedos with black lapels for Dan and his groomsmen to resemble one worn in the movie Skyfall. “We actually picked the tuxes before we selected the bridesmaid dresses,” says Jen.
Jen’s Smiling Ceremony Processional
Each bridesmaid carried a bouquet of pink calla lilies wrapped with gold satin ribbon. Jen carried a bouquet of champagne roses and white phalaenopsis orchids hand-wrapped with an off-white satin ribbon, she says.
Jen and Dan were wed under an elaborate arch decorated with white hydrangea, white roses, white dendrobium orchids and assorted greenery as accents.

Jen chose “Candy” by Monique Lhuillier for her wedding dress. The ivory trumpet wedding gown had delicate details on the bodice and waist that flowed into a tulle skirt. She found it at Chic Parisien Bridal and complemented the dress with a floor-length tulle veil.

Jen and Dan’s Reception Entrance
The couple decorated their reception in the venue’s Circle Ballroom with pink lighting, chiavari chairs, glass candelabras, high and low floral centerpieces, glass chargers with a gold rim and ivory linens.
The couple chose multiple centerpieces for their reception. The head table included white orchids, pink roses, white hydrangea, blush spray roses and Sahara roses in the centerpieces.
The couple chose a round five-tiered chocolate buttermilk confection with white chocolate cheesecake mousse and fresh raspberries, says Jen. It was decorated with gold dots along or covering each tier and surrounded by tea light candles.
Jen and Dan’s First Dance
The couple took their first dance to “Mean to Me” by Brett Eldredge before inviting their guests to join them on the dance floor. “It was the perfect way to start off the party,” says Jen.
The couple surprised their guests and crowd surfed to the music of their 10 piece band, Sound House. "Everyone was having so much fun we extended the reception 30 more minutes,” says Jen.
