A Romantic Alfresco Wedding at Houston Oaks Country Club in Hockley, Texas

For Claire Burgher (23 and a nurse) and John Frazier (25 and a broker), there was no better place to get married than under the oaks at the Houston Oaks Country Club in Hockley, Texas. Not only are they already frequent visitors, but their ceremony unfolded just outside the rustic stone chapel where John had proposed 10 months earlier. Over-the-top floral arrangements by Rob from Events in Bloom brought out the vibrant spring palette of coral and orange. Bold pops of roses, garden roses and hydrangeas covered the entrance gate and aisle where Claire and John took communion. Later, guests dined under oversized modern lanterns in the courtyard. Beth Rice at Keely Thorne Events transformed the space with intimate round tables topped with bursting florals and gold chiavari chairs to enhance the elegant atmosphere. But the detail that really stole the show was their band, Compozitionz, which performed the entire day. The skilled musicians performed in smaller groups, from “Oh Happy Day” sung by a male a capella trio at the ceremony, to a female vocalist trio LoveNotez at dinner, before coming back together for a rousing performance of “This Will Be” for Claire and John’s first dance.
