A Relaxed Waterfront Wedding at a Restaurant in Wilmington, North Carolina

April Shell (31 and a recruitment manager) and Tony de Lima (26 and in landscaping) met at a bar in Washington, DC while watching the University of North Carolina versus Duke basketball game. They were both rooting for the Carolina Tar Heels amongst April's Duke alumnae friends and cheered loudly as UNC started to win. "My friend tapped him on the shoulder—he was wearing a UNC hat—and asked if he would hang out with me for the rest of the game," says April. "He did, and the rest is history!" Six months after getting engaged, the couple hosted a relaxed waterfront wedding at a restaurant in Wilmington, North Carolina. "We had our wedding at church at Wrightsville Beach, and our reception at a restaurant downtown on the riverfront," says April. "We wanted to show our friends and family both parts of the town with the shameless hope that people will like it and move here too!" April stunned in a simple chiffon, off-shoulder trumpet wedding dress and had her bridesmaids select their favorite dresses for a laid-back, mismatched look. In honor of Tony's Brazilian heritage, his family decorated a beautiful table with prepared sweet treats and candies for guests to take with them as they left. "Because we had the reception at a restaurant on the river, we were able to take advantage of the natural beauty of the water," says April.
