A Relaxed Nautical Wedding at Cottage on the Creek in Mt Pleasant, South Carolina

Suzanne Forsythe (28 and a pediatric nurse practitioner) met Chris Cramer (30 and a PGA golf professional) at Concord University. They dated for two years until life took them in different directions for work and nursing school. Suzanne and Chris eventually both ended up in Washington, DC and rekindled their romance. Ten years after they initially met and fell in love, Chris proposed to Suzanne at Niagara Falls on a trip to visit Chris's family in Canada. Once back home, the couple visited several venues before deciding to host a preppy waterfront wedding at Cottage on the Creek in Mt Pleasant, South Carolina. The couple's ceremony took place on the dock, under a large tent. "We were fortunate enough to have perfect weather, unseasonably warm for October, with boats gliding by," says Suzanne. "Our married monogram hung from the tent directly behind the officiant, an extra Southern touch, which now hangs on the wall in our living room." The navy, green and white color palette along with a striped ribbon motif lent a nautical feel to the laid-back celebration. The couple, along with family, decorated the “southern-chic” reception with DIY flower arrangements in galvanized buckets, escort cards and understated chevron tablescapes. Suzanne envisioned a simple cake with white and blue ribbon as well as flowers around the base of each layer, but when the cake arrived, it was completely blank. "I didn't find out until much later but my brother-in-law, a very manly man who hates to bake, decorated it to perfection based off of a cell phone picture!" says Suzanne. "Thank goodness for amazing friends and family who take care of the details and tell you later!"
