A Ralph Lauren-Inspired Wedding at The University Club of Chicago in Chicago
During their sophomore year at Boston College, Amanda Ravas (24 and an account executive at BBDO) met Luke Lapointe (25 and an investment banker) when he interviewed her for a campus tour guide job. "As the interview began, I was instantly smitten and noticed how easily our conversation flowed," she says. Amanda eventually landed the job -- and a new friendship with her future husband. Two years later, the friends began dating and later got engaged in 2013 during a date night at J. Parker, their favorite Chicago rooftop bar. For their fall wedding in the heart of the city, the couple exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony at St. Clement Catholic Parish in Lincoln Park before celebrating with 150 guests at The University Club of Chicago. "Given that our wedding was in November, we wanted something that was warm and cozy with a slightly vintage feel," the bride says of their formal reception space. "With the fireplaces, limestone, grand staircase and wood walls, we knew this was the place where we wanted to celebrate the beginning of our lives together." Inspired by the effortless glam look of Ralph Lauren, the newlyweds used a lavender and ivory color palette to pull off the classic wedding of their dreams. Gold lantern centerpieces adorned each dining table, while birchwood and pheasant feathers were used to evoke the rustic feel of the countryside. The newlyweds even used wine corks they collected throughout the course of their engagement as DIY escort card holders and wine bottles in place of a traditional guest book. "We asked guests to sign the bottles and plan on opening them on future anniversaries," the bride explains. While guests enjoyed jarred honey favors (courtesy of the groom's mother's hive!), Amanda and Luke gifted guests with a surprise Chicago hot dog bar to fuel a night of dancing. "The party truly began once dinner was over," Amanda explains. "We danced the night away with all of our loved ones -- it was a night we'll remember forever."
