A Rainy, Moody Winter Wedding at Hutton House in Medicine Lake, Minnesota

Brit Kolich (23 and a designer) and Daniel Robinson (24 and US Navy aviator) admit they aren’t “light, bright type of people,” Brit says. Instead of a wedding filled with blush and neutrals, they went in a different direction, incorporating black accents into The Hutton House’s nearly all-white interior. “We wanted the overall style to be minimalistic and classic but with an edge.” Simplicity reigned supreme, from the ceremony décor that consisted of a branch installation above the mantle and an altar full of candles to their moody cake finished with a topper that Daniel painted black.
Brit designed and made her gown, while Daniel wore a black suit but changed into his naval uniform for the “I dos.” Brit paired her heels with simple black bar stud earrings. Daniel’s Naval Academy class ring also made an appearance.
“My bouquet was made up of peonies and anemones because they’re my favorite,” Brit says. White ranunculus corsages popped against the bridesmaids’ all-black looks.
Brit’s bridesmaids rocked gowns of their choosing. “I wanted them to love what they wore and to be able to wear their dresses again,” Brit says. Brit worked with her dad to DIY the vinyl board.  She also designed the modern card stock table numbers and paired them with chic black holders from Amazon.
