A Quirky Carnival-Themed Wedding at a Private Residence in Seattle, Washington

Instead of seeking a new venue, this couple landscaped and revamped their backyard to create the perfect location for their intimate, carnival-theme wedding in Seattle, Washington. Rebecca West (36 and an interior designer) and Damian Konasiewicz (40 and a general contractor) built a deck and dance floor to comfortably fit their guest list of 60, in addition to the mulching and landscaping to shape the setting for their whimsical wedding. Rebecca and Damian asked their guests to wear something colorful with a funky hat, which made for eye-popping color contrasts and pictures captured by VeroLuce Photography. The couple planned to perform a swing dance for their guests during the reception, so Rebecca needed to make sure the dress she picked allowed her to twist and twirl. She chose a tea-length ivory wedding dress with a floral-patterned overlay that she purchased from Unique Vintage, along with a champagne-colored sash wrapped around her waist. An aqua beaded necklace added color to Rebecca's look, blending with her round bouquet arranged with small purple and white flowers with dominant aqua silk flowers. Guests mingled while playing carnival games and munched on popcorn and cotton candy, bringing the carnival theme to life amid colorful decor. A standout detail was also the bride's favorite decoration. Two wooden signs were cut in the shape of hearts and painted red; one read "I do" and the other read "Me too." “We love our home, and it seemed like the perfect solution,” Rebecca says. “Two years later, we are enjoying the heck out of our backyard, and it holds all the memories from the day we said 'I do.'
